La Falda = skirt/lap

We are a small homestead at the base of the Massanutten Mountains growing food, plants, and habitat. In my mother’s home country of Chile, the Andean foothills are “la falda,” the skirt or lap of Pachamama; that fertile, gentle slope between volcano and valley. Catching the water and fertility that flows down through these foothills, we fill our skirts with nourishment and plenty to share.

    Spring!

    It’s happening – buds are swelling, days are longer, first seeds have germinated. Soon the incubator will be full of gardens in miniature. Spring fever might rush you, but plants will be ready for sale the first weekend in May.
